Nicolas Guerin was born in 1970. He studied film at university and did a thesis on the work of Maurice Pialat directed by Vincent Amiel, editor of Positif. Meet Jean Gili and Christian Viviani, active members of the magazine during its civil service, made at the University Film Library. Faithful reader Positif, on its own initiative propose a collaboration with the magazine. In May 2000, accompanied by Michel Ciment and Hubert Niogret during an interview with the Coen brothers, and makes his first photos. In April 2002, photographer Isabelle Huppert for the cover of Positif.
As a tribute to the 50 th of Positif, 50 years of his portraits are on display at Cannes in 2002, and prior to the exhibitions held at the Institute Lumière in Lyon, at the Festival of La Rochelle, the Yokohama French Film Festival, the Institute Madrid and the French Forum Pictures of Paris. The exhibition is also presented in the web of photo galleries of FNAC.
